The year 2016.The summer olympics which was held in rio de janeiro, brazil in 2016..The olympic games started from 5th august to 21 august 2016..It was the 28th edition of the summer games. It was the first oylmpics event to be held in south america..Rio oylmpic began with lots of hopes because 118 athletes participate from india in rio oylmpics..But there was disppointment over the poor performance of the athletes india grab only 2 medals in rio olympic silver and bronze medal by p.v sindhu and sakshi malki nad dipa karmarkar became first indian female gymnast at rio olympic..people were disappointed by their poor performance like saina nehwal, abhinav bindra, saina mirza and hockey men’s team as they had many hopes from them…
India’s performance in rio olympic 2016 was very poor there are some factors are:-
1.Lack of encouragement:- india does well in specific sports like cricket only while rest of the games are not promoted so that people would participate in other sports too..
2.lack of participation:- while india has a vast population of 13 billion but hardly we manage to grab a medal because we participate in much obvious games which already have a great competition while we don’t have people going for all the sports..
3.lack of facilities:- lately i heared about many athletes who are doing a part time job as well as practicing now how would you think that they would be able to compete with the other countries athletes..
4.infrastructure:- for traning and practice of the athletes their is no playground and stadiums for practice..The indian government doesn’t have single world class badminton or tennis stadiums.Sports authority of india has just one stadium with world class wrestling facilities..
If government take initiative of athletes then athletes give more medals to india..But government does not take initiative of any players if athlete were injured in any game then the amount of insurance provided to a athlete is only about to rs 150..government should motivate the athlete not criticize like shobha de said” khao piyo ghumo or selfie lo or wapss aajao” this type of statement will decrease the moral of the players…
